Launceston Feburary Meeting - Sculpting in Blender

Hi people! For this month’s Launceston meeting, we’ll be taking a look at the sculpting tools included with the Free/Open Source 3D creation suite Blender. We’ll also be doing a live demonstration, creating a character (or as much of one as we can squeeze into the meeting) from scratch.

Launceston Meeting: 29th September - An introduction to QGIS

Hi people! For this month’s Launceston meeting, we will be taking a look at the F/OSS desktop Geographic Information System, QGIS, which supports viewing, editing and analysis of geospatial data. In this talk we will demonstrate how to connect to a variety of different data sources for displaying within a map, as well as adding in new data and editing existing data.

Launceston Meeting: 27th January - Tips and tricks with ImageMagick

Hi people! For this month’s Launceston meeting, we will look at creating, manipulating and converting raster based images with ImageMagick. While used as a terminal tool, ImageMagick is a set of libraries that can be interfaced from a number of programming languages to allow the user to create their own image manipulation applications. This presentation will discuss many of ImageMagick’s options and demonstrate a range of its features.
