I've got a similar set of instructions for Ubuntu and I reckon I'll give it a go in a little while.
One of the problems is I'll be working from a windows machine to do the install, which might cause a few hassles.
Re: Recycling an old 1Gb flashdrive

Hi,

Installing Ubuntu onto a thumb drive is doable but requires a few little commands in the terminal. They are working on a GUI to install Ubuntu to a thumbdrive but you may have to wait another month for the new Ubuntu for that.
<br...

Well, I recently upgraded from a 1Gb to a 8Gb flashdrive and was wondering what I could do with the old one. I didn't want to give it away, nor shove it in a drawer somewhere to be forgotten.

So, I wondered if I could stick something like...
