... the meeting you've all been waiting for! We will be meeting at the Hotel Soho at 124 Davey St Hobart at 7 pm on Thursday 20th March for a general meet and greet, with drinks and a bite to eat (they've got some pretty good wedges and burgers for anyone looking for something simple).
We will be discussing the upcoming linux.conf.au 2009; future plans for TasLUG in general, and taking expressions of interest for assistance with making this all happen.
Hope to see you there.

[Edit 2 - Could you please RSVP to taslug@gmail.com so I can make sure there's enough space for everyone! Thanks.]
Hi everyone,
The Tassie LCA09 Team would like to thank our Ghosts of Conferences Past - Stewart Smith, Donna Benjamin, Peter Lieverdink, Rusty and Alli Russell, Avi Miller, Michael Davies, Anthony Towns, and Steve Walsh - for a rocking weekend of fun, food and serious fact finding. A good time was had by all, and we've all come out of it wiser, and ready for action. Still lots of work to be done - we'll have plenty to talk about at the next TasLUG meeting, and probably lots of work for anyone who wants to take up the challenge!
There's some great photos on Michael Davies' blog, and Donna had some lovely things to say about our upcoming conference. They can be found here:

There'll be a meeting announcement in the next 24 hours - stay tuned!
Leah.
I did an interview with ITWire on our preparations for LCA.
It can be found here: ITWire Article
TasLUG has now entered the world of blogging... we're trialling a Planet feed for the next few weeks, so if you have a blog and you think it would be of interest to our community, feel free to submit it.
We expect everyone to use discretion about what is appropriate to blog here; the feed will be accessible to the general public so keep the audience in mind. Keep it civil, legal and interesting!
Cheers,
Leah.
Hi all,
I am absolutely thrilled to announce that Hobart will be the next city to host linux.conf.au 2009!
We have worked very hard this year to prove ourselves ready, willing and able to host this internationally prestigious conference, and are now working even harder to ensure that LCA09 is one fantastic event. We have big plans for this event, and I guarantee that it will be one to remember.
I extend my warmest regards to the Brisbane team, who also submitted a bid for 2009 - their bid was really top-notch, and offered us some very stiff competition. There are some great ideas in the pipeline there, and they will definitely be the frontrunner for next year's bid. Kudos to the Brisbane team, and I wish you luck for next year's bid.
Many thanks also to the main bid team who have put in their all so far, in the difficult lead up to Melbourne LCA08 - Ben Powell, Michael Emery, Garry Harradence, Josh Bush, Josh Hesketh, Henry Bush, Victor Medrano (and of course, Leah Duncan - my good self), and the countless others who have offered suggestions, advice, and even just a hand where they can. 353 days to go, guys - keep up the good work!
Volunteers are most welcome to contact the LCA09 coordinators at volunteers@marchsouth.org to offer what support and assistance they can. Join us to help make this a totally rocking conference!
Our website, until the official handover from the Melbourne team is made, can be found at http://www.marchsouth.org
More details to follow!
